No.75 Squadron is the last remaining RAAF unit operating the F/A-18 Hornet and will convert to the F-35A Lightning II in 2022. A special scheme featuring the 75 Squadron mascot. the Australian magpie was applied to A21-18 by Boeing Defence Australia. The magpie was selected as the unit’s symbol because it is a belligerent defendant of its young with the courage to attack. The nose markings represent the 73 missions flown by A21-18 during Operation Okra.
